Macquarie Lighthouse
This lighthouse is part of a network of aids to navigation around the Australian coastline maintained by the Australian Maratime Safety Authority for the safety of ships
This light was first exhibited on 30th November 1818 using an oil lamp. On completion of a new tower a more powerful light was exhibited using electricity. The light was converted to incandecent kerosene apparatus in 1912. In January 1933 the light reverted to electricity using 240 volts mains pwoer and came into full automatic operation in 1976.
